Charts, one passage each, posted around the room.
Form small groups of students, assigning one group to each chart. Groups spend 2 to 5 minutes at each chart, reading, d discussing, interpreting, reacting then move on to the next chart. After all charts are visited by all groups, students return to seats and discuss and summarize reactions to all charts.
This activator is designed to raise curiosity and interest and to aid in comprehension when students do entire reading. The teacher may want to suggest some ways to react to the charts, such as: “This means…”, “A question this raises”, “This reminds me of…”, “Cause/effect of this might be…”
